What is Hollywood? Is it where people left their families back home, to come out west in order to recreate themselves like modern day Madonnas, but on a life mission to become someone different than who they left behind?
It is so easy to get lost in endless beautiful days that become repetitive in their picture postcard perfectness: A place where an extraordinary week of environmental beauty becomes a month of the same that eases into a year until you are lost in a time warp of sameness that lulls you into believing you are in motion when in reality you are caught in a whirlpool of dissolving time.
And throughout all of this, Hollywood never changes it’s intrinsic character core of: “Hi, I work in Hollywood, what can you do for me?” The denizen of Hollywood, no matter what station in Lady Luck” plays the wild card of success. It is the only game where you pay for the product before seeing it and the refund policy sucks, but it is also the only insane asylum everyone is trying to break into.
So, don’t get me wrong. I love Hollywood cause it never changes.
